What would happen if you overlaid the two cards? Something a lot like my brain at present.

taking the *quick* out of quick-and-dirty )

In short, it seems I'm not very good at the quick-and-dirty style that kink bingo particularly suits. Which is, y'know, *fine* - it's nice to be writing again at all. But I'm genuinely wondering if I should be aiming to go down the quick-and-dirty route as an exercise, or if other people are also inclined towards those sorts of stories which chart the whole journey from UST to happy ending.

Poll time! When perusing kink bingo, would you rather:
- see every step of the way
- cut to the chase
- it's all good
- none of it is good!

...just remembered I have no poll capability now I'm a filthy lj freeloader, but you can imagine the ticky box! Or comment if you have an opinion and/or reckon something. :)

I am writing a real post about kink bingo (it has a poll, and everything!) but my productivity ground to a halt when I saw the following:

Warnings: AMTDI

and went, wait, what's that? and put it (gingerly, because really who knows?) into google, and this was the first hit. HEE.

Just had notification that Moving In has won, um, best Jack/Ianto, best dark/angst, and runner up best ficlet in the Torchwood section Children of Time awards. \o/ Thanks to everyone who voted, I'm all surprised and happy! And motivated! *raids WIP folder*

Although today I did a sponsored 10k run/hobble-when-the-blisters-took-over for Medicin Sans Frontiers, and now I am so tired that stringing sentences together may be Far Too Hard.

I'm off to be part of the studio audience of The Operation: live surgery! :D

ETA: they removed a 15yo tumour from within the pituitary fossa, taking with it most of the pituitary gland. We had front-row centre seats, with the guest-of-honour endocrinologist sitting in the seat behind us, the host and translator-surgeon sitting at the table in front of us with their props, and a choice of all three unobstructed screens showing the operating theatre, surgeon pov and endoscope pov. The cameramen were basically in our laps for the host/translator conversation shots.

It was so cool.

Cameron: Yeah but we don't make careers out of who can stay awake the longest.
Chase: Really? Ever been to uh, I dunno... Med School?

My 18yo peers have been staying in the library until 5am, then turning up for a 9am lecture. o.0 I must admit that's not how I roll. Having said that, maybe it should be! I've never felt performance anxiety as a physical *drain* before this month. We had our last lecture of the year yesterday; today we have our first exam. Then a week off, then the Final Exams, and then I'm free (re-sits notwithstanding) to, uh, try and get a temp job? In this climate? I might just sleep all summer. Spend nothing, save nothing. :)

I'm feeling fairly placid right now, because I had an additional exam this morning (in Spanish; don't ask) which was sufficiently traumatic to burn off all my adrenaline! Que sera, sera, and all that. Hence I'm online! I'm completely out of the loop, again; I did pop up on April 30th and register Calico, but haven't even begun to explore in that direction. Emails are languishing unanswered (though that's nothing new) and I haven't plucked my eyebrows in six weeks. *That's* how busy I am! A dent has been made in my personal grooming schedule!

Speaking of out of the loop: I'm sure this is old news, but the one thing that had the power to make me smile this week (aside from my boy, who has been wonderful) is the delightful XKCD/Firefly crossover. Fanboy/Fillion otp!

... and now I must get back to it. Hasta luego, internets. I'm missing you!

*dives back in*
